IAWM 2022 Education Grant Winner
Cimone Phillips was awarded the 2022 IAWM Education Grant for her project, Community Day Charter Public Schools Violin Program.
The $300 classroom grant helped elementary students at Cimone Phillips of Community Day Charter Public Schools (in MA, USA) both study and perform music by women composers. The grant also funded music and materials for students and a Women’s Month Recital in March 2023
IAWM 2021 Education Grant Winner
Aluma Sadick Bashir was awarded the 2021 IAWM Education Grant for her project, Music is Female
This inspiring project enabled Aluma Sadick Bashir to hold a program of masterclasses highlighting the work of female musicians across a range of genres. The three-day program, for students aged from 4-18 years living in Nsambya, Uganda, aimed to inspire young girls to engage in music making and provided an opportunity for students to connect and share their own creativity by performing for each other.
