Leadership History
The Leadership History Archive recognizes IAWM’s Board and Journal leadership for each year back to 1995.
In 2025, as we looked back to IAWM’s 30-year history, we sought to shine a light, in the Journal’s 30th Anniversary issue, on those women who had the fortitude to create a IAWM to combat unequal treatment of women in music.
Three decades later hundreds of women have volunteered their time, their energy and their expertise to ensure IAWM not only survives, but thrives. It is upon their shoulders on which we now stand.
Women’s perspectives, women’s stories, women’s music MATTERS.
We have dedicated ourselves to document our past and recognize the people and work that IAWM has accomplished thus far. The Concert page has a tab at the bottom to an archive that lists all IAWM concerts with links to the journals with the concert review.
The Conference page lists an archive tab from 1981 of all of the Conferences and congresses of IAWM and the International Congress on Women in Music (ICWM), (Accessible February 2026) also with links to the journals listing the reports.
We’ve also compiled a list of the people who helped get us to where IAWM is today. The link below will open up a Leadership list of Board Members, IAWM Officers and Journal Editors from the present to 1995. It was largely compiled from the journal archive records.
